OK here you go
the long skinny plug has 2 8 gauge wires and one small14 GA wire the two eights are batt postive.... the third is the stator tap which feeds the regulator ... the d plugs as i call it has 3 small 14 GA wires....; one is a 12V key switched source.the other is a light circuit back to the dash and the third is the loop back to the stator plug.. i could make you a repair harness and send directions if you wish......

my advice is kick that old unit out its has a tsb for a stock amperage for fires due to the crappy battery connection and go to the better 3g

I took another picture to show what it looks like. You mention 3 wires ... I only have 2.

Black wire goes to Battery and Blue/Red goes to Stator. It works. No more drain on the battery
