Smell From A/C
WRONG.
The Evaperator coil, which exchanges cold air into the incoming stream into the cabin, is moldy. To fix this, you don't even have to replace it.
Turn the car on, with the A/C on FULL BLAST. Take Lysol to the cowl (I'm gonna guess that's where it draws in the air for the A/C, that's where it is on my Saturn) where air is drawn in. Spray LIBERALLY. This will kill the fungus/mold crud in there. It helps if you lower a window to help disipate the smell from the cabin some.
When you're done, take your favorite air freshener and squirt it down there a couple times to hlep combat the Lysol stench.
Worked like a charm for my satty, mom's Buick, and Josh's '67 Impala (Vintage Air A/C system).

My bad. Im not up to snuff on my A/C info as its been a while since I messed with it. But I was going to tell you its in the evaporator. So in some twisted way I was right after all.
