Default convertible question

ok so i bought my car this way. the rear glass is that plastic crap, and it got broke into before i bought the car and the people just kicked it in. so its just laying down and it looks like i have no rear window. i called an apholstry shop and they said they could fix it for 135 and thats with a new plastic window. curious... even though it was originally a plastic window. could i put in a glass window? or would i have to get a whole new top for that? thanks for any help.

the top is 2 parts.

the rear window plus the fabric and then the top

yes you can get glass, it's a few bucks though, $500 when i priced it a few years ago, the plastic will get brittle break again, and go yellow pretty quick so check out the glass option.

50 resto has them in stock i do believe

Get the glass one if you can afford it.
Makes the car look a lot nicer and more expensive/high end

I am the original owner of my '89 and it came with a glass rear window as standard equipment.
Maybe a previous owner replaced the OEM window with a plastic one to save some cash.
When you replace it definately get a glass one-they look so much nicer.

I'm getting a top put on my 86 right now and the price I was quoted was $500 for the rear glass window, $350 for the rest of the top and $75 for the cables that are used as well. I'm sure it's not the best deal I could find, but I don't have to do the installation either.
