Default well i feel any difference with my new shifter?

i own a supercharged 91 lx and it has an old crappy AOD, Its actually not that bad , but with 476 horses its not that great, but my question is i purchased an B&M pro ratchet shifter, it is not in the vehicle yet, will this make any difference at all compared to the stock shifter or did i waste my money and time?
