Default bbk equal length headers

just attemped to install bbk equal length headers on my 88 gt and having a few issues.i have the headers mounted to the heads with the gaskets in and the problem is getting the bottom to line up with the exaust.the h pipe wont move and i cant get the 2 bolts coming from the headers to go into the h pipe to line up.Were these supposed to be bolted down first? Also the rubber hose to the smog pump will be in contact with the header tube.BBK includes a new tube and clamps but the instructions says nothing about where or how to install it.One more issue is that just by looking it seems that my plug wires will also come into contact with a header tube.do i need to have wires with elbows where it connects to the plug?now i have straight plug boots. If anyone has installed these please let me know.

try loosening up your header bolts and with the headers loose try lining up the header to h-pipe bolts, once you run em in a good couple of threads go ahead and retighten your header bolts, if its a 1 piece flange on the headers remember to tighten from the center outward to reduce warpage, when all header bolts are tight then tighten your h-pipe bolts. this has worked for me in the past till i outgrew the equal lengths and went to full length headers.

I have the 90 degree wires and they clear the headers. As far as the h pipe goes have somebody help with moving it, there are a lot of rubber mounts on them and they can be quite stiff. Now remove the smog pump if you are some place that doesn't have emissions testing. If you can't remove it you are going to have to call BBK and get some help, or look on line at BBK possibly for directions.

I just looked at the instructions on line and they kind of suck, it does give a drawing of the air hoses but that is about it, call their customer service and hopefully they can help. Here is the link for the instructions.
