RE: Performance question!!!
Before you drop any substantial amount of coin on used heads use some common sense and guidelines.
1. Insist that the seller have the heads magnafluxed (checked for cracks) at a reputable machine shop with reciept of work done to prove it, at your expense of course. This will save you shipping charges only to get cracked heads and to ship them back. And if the seller is unwilling to do this then you know something is up with them or to proceed with caution. Also the machine shop can do a general inspection of the heads and tell if the guides, seals, and valve seats are excessively worn.
2. Ask the seller for a "NO CRACK" guarantee, if the seller is selling "GOOD HEADS pulled from a known good running motor" then put him on the spot to put money where his mouth is.
3. ALWAYS TAKE SHIPPING INSURANCE, heads are strong and all but they can and will crack if dropped. Especially when they are not packaged well, I personally bubble wrap the hell out of heads when I send them and then pack the box as tight as possible with bubble wrap or styrofoam to make sure it moves around as little as possible.
4. Go into buying used heads with this in mind: you will need valve seals, springs, and clean & lap the valves at the very minimum. You should put matching springs on them anyways to make sure you don't go into coil bind and they are matched to your cam. Seals are cheap enough that you should do them anytime you pull the heads. And valve compressors are cheap to so thats no excuse. Lapping the valves is easy and ensures a good seal on the cylinder, and cleaning the carbon off the valves is worth a few CFM on flow numbers.
Go into making a used head purchase with the above in mind and you will be pleased with your purchase and have no problems. I am sure I left something out, someone will add though!

the reason i ask if this will make it hard to drive on street is because i am a high school student that makes 6 dollars an hour making pizzas. so what i was really try to ask is it going to make it so i cant afford gas and i am going to have to baby the living crap out of it or it will break or just normal use would be fine

RE: Performance question!!!
Thats a fairly mild combonation that should be very reliable and not suck all the gas out of Iraq. As far as the heads go, if you are patient you can scour the salvage yards and pick them up real cheap especially at a pick and pull. I got a pair for $40 from the local pick and pull so they are out there, you just have to time it right or go all the time. I try to go every other weekend but life gets in the way most times.

RE: Performance question!!!
Got the heads for $19.99 each, the upper intake for $15, the lower for $20, and the injectors for $7 each ( the GEN III 4 disc type with 80k miles on them). They work awsome in the car lol. Keep your eyes peeled and go often thats all I can say about that.
