water pump pulley belt issue
A friend of mine had me do a mass air 5.0 swap on his '86 mustang. with 87-93 interior, everything is complete & working. I had to replace the timing cover due to a crack in the old one (came from wrecked car). I installed a 351w timing cover with a mechanical fuel pump in it, made a piece of steel to delete the mech fuel pump. Installed with a 5.0 water pump for an '86 so the only difference from it being a complete '86 gt engine is the timing cover.
Anyway, belt went on, fired the car up & ran it a little bit. I noticed the belt is about 2-3mm off on the water pump. Like the water pump pulley is 2mm more towards the front of the car. Shut the car off & one of the ribs from the belt was off of the pulley just on that one alone.
Does anyone know if the 351w timing cover is a tad bit thicker? They are 100% identical as far as i can tell. I'm sure i can figure it out, but I wanted to see if anyone knew anything about this off the top of their head before I headed over there & started working on it again.
