Good deal on 5.0?
Theres this guy down the street from me whos selling an 88 mustang 5.0 with alot of mods.. He previously had a saleen and totalled it , so he swapped the saleen engine into the 88. The engine has 40k on it and the car has 80k but it looks like its in good condition. IT has dynomax exhaust and some other small mods to the engine.. Hes selling it for 4 grand.. is that a good deal ? my friend might end up buying the car

This sounds like a good deal, but make sure you get underneath the car and check out everything, depending if it's an auto or a stick put it through all the gears, etc. Make sure that it is a pretty solid car before you buy it.

Sounds like a good deal to me also. But since it is an 88 with only 80K total I would check it out.
Check the records on it to make sure it has not been reset backwards. Cars average about 10-12K miles a year. That would put the car to at least to 160K miles. So it is low miles.
I would say an average pre90 fox would go for around 3-5K and a post90 would go for around 4-7K...that is if the car is in good condition.
And if there are some defects or problems I wouldn't worry too much. You can practically build a fox from the ground up with all the aftermarket and stock parts they have out there LOL

RE: Good deal on 5.0?
Don't forget, the 5.0 Mustang has a 5-digit odometer, so 80,000 miles might be 180,000 and you'll never know since there isn't that 1 there...
Either way, if the engine only has 40k miles, then it doesn't matter too much, unless you're worried about wheel bearings or something like that.
Make sure he's not full of crap about the engine.
