140 mph gauge cluster
I just bought a 140mph gauge clutster for my 88 lx and installed it today. Everything seemed to work just fine but when I took it out for a test drive(of course after I put all the trim back on) the spedo needle goes crazy when it feels like im going faster than 40mph.(at this speed the spedo shows that im maxin out at 140) This was a item I bought used off of another member on another board. Is their any way that i can have it calibrated to read correctly.
Thanks Andy

Haha, man that's funny cause mine does the same thing... *sigh* I bought mine off ebay though. It does it after about 80mph though so it's still usable. Hmmm I wonder what would make them do that? Just thought I'd let you know that you aren't the only one, if that makes you feel better at all.

^^^^sometimes I've heard of people taking them apart far enough so they can shoot some grease up in there....it's worth a try..what's the worst that can happen...it'll ruin it...well IMO if it doesn't work right now..you got nothing to lose

I have an 88 and the cluster is also from an 88...i took it out the other day and was messin around with it but no luck so far...
one of my buddies recomended an electronic speed adaptor or speed sensor or something like that..the can be found in the mustangs unlimited catalog....its the part that connects to the tranny side of the speedo cable...i don't know if that will calculate for such a big difference in numbers tho
