Another Battery Question?????
I have a question that I just cant seem to get a straight answer on.
Here it is; I have a regular maintenance free battery (Not a sealed Ultima)that is from Discount auto or any auto parts store. I mounted the battery in the trunk of my Notch and I am using a plastic battery case, like the kind you would use in a boat or the kind they sell in the summit catalog.
Since it is in the trunk and in a closed plastic case, do I need to worry about venting problems or possible explosion??
Everyone I have talked to has a diffrent answer and most just say get an Ultima.

Yes, I know this is an old thread.
All lead acid batteries used in motor vehicles have vent holes to vent hydrogen gas if the battery gets too hot and would otherwise explode. This includes "sealed" batteries (e.g., Optima). The vent hole may remain closed under normal conditions, but opens if needed.
