That is what the tool looks like. You should be able to find them at any parts store and most hardware stores.

How do you tell if you're fuel pump is making noise or going bad? If I go behind my car when it's turned on I can hear a high pitched whining noise, is that it?

RE: Fuel pump going bad?
I just pulled my 87 GT tank for a very loud original pump, only it wasn't the pump at all. There's a small galvanized anti-slosh sump that surrounds the pump & the solder joints in the tank had broken free and the sump slid up against the pump. When I applied power to the old pump while submersed in a paintcan full of kerosene, it was quiet and had good pressure at the end of a 10 foot 3/8" fuel line. . I still have to get the sump soldered, but I'm thinking that it might be cheaper just to find a 92 or 93 tank in the pick and pull, and check it for rust and security. Has anyone had this problem before?

Far as I know, 87-93 tanks are identical except for the outer shielding (one piece v 2 piece). I wouldn't pass up a good 87 tank, but I figure that 92-93 tanks would generally have less rust than the earlier cars. In a junk yard full of Foxes I'd try the later cars first, although my 87 tank is rust and trash-free.
