suspension fit

I have an 86 gt and was looking for some struts. i found some kyb gr2s and was wondering is there a difference between 86 and 87-93. ive been looking on ebay and 87-93 is the norm for struts. any information would be much appreciated i just dont to buy them and find they do not fit.
