so you installed the torque box plates first and the battle boxes last? thanks for the info, it will make this job much easier. im going to do the plates right now and the boxes later when i have the cage done. i was afraid that if i did the plates first i would not be able to install the battle boxes.

are you worried about rust getting between the lower plate and the torque box and causing rot?

battle boxes first, then torque plates, then the subframe conn. partial torque plate last... the full torque plate gave a good flat solid mounting area.

rot? there is no higher chance of this rotting than the rest of the car/any car... in fact less of a chance if you prep clean weld clean then protect.. you can use red oxide primer then a gloss black overcoat I am sure there are other tougher paints out there that could be used or you could use undercoating as a last coating?

its possible that the plates might narrow the area that the battle box must be inserted up into. place it first and ensure that you still have clearance... the 87-93 cars I believe have plenty of room as stock unlike sn95 I believe instructions state that the area may need to be 'opened up' ...cut open. I have not seen this first hand... I dont think it ever hurts to mock up anything so check it out before welding!
