Default overheating?

I know it's not a mustang, but I couldn't find anything that could be of help on a cadillac forum or guide so I came to my mustang buddies!

Here's the situation, It's a 1995 Cadillac Eldorado. When driving around town the car runs fine but once I get on the high way the temperature gauge climbs up to around 225 degrees and tries to shut the car off. But when I got out to inspect the car wasn't very hot at all! I don't know if this is some form of a sensor or something. Anyone have any ideas?

Default RE: overheating?

you need to check coolant level to start and if it's okay and no leaks are present..it may have a restriction in radiator or a thermostat that is not opening all the way
