Tips for installing outside door handle?

Do I need to take off that accuator rod from the inside? Or do i just slip the handle in the rod and screw the handle in with nuts and bolts?

i took my car to a body shop and had them install the door handles because it takes a special rivet gun to put them back on, other people on this site just use nuts and bolts to put them on

When i bought the car the passenger side had nuts and bolts on it already
