Default are these pistons oversized ?

i yanked apart a extra 302 i am saving as a spare for the stang today and saw 60 carved in all the piston heads. does it just mean it was rebuild while back and oversized ?

i would think it would say .060 and it doesn't so probably not. you could always measure it.

Yep, just get some digital calipers and measureat thetang of the piston (widest portion of the piece) to get a better idea.

best way is use a bore gauge and sink piston down in bore

thnx for all the comments guys, i dont have a bore gauge yet at home sadly, i was just wondering if anyone already new the reason somone would stamp 60 on it. thnx again

It could be a 4.060" (over bore) from 4.000".

If you measure the piston, that will give you the answer. This way, you do not have to remove the piston. Just bring it to BDC, and measure the tang that hangs out of the cylinder skirt.

Digital calipers are less than $10.

60 over wow.. I dont know about you but thats pushing the block to its limits maybe beyond if you ask me.

^ if it is .060 it doesnt sound like the motor blew up or it wouldnt all be in one piece eh?
