Default Mustang Gauge Cluster Question!

So I have a 90gt mustang...I screwed around a few years back and changed the faces to white on the cluster....Since then they've always been a little off...So I'm looking at buyin a used factory cluster with the 140 speedo like my car orginally had in it...But I was surfing ebay this morning to find one and there is one listed for my application but says it will not fit airbag cars...Is there really a difference for the gauge cluster between airbag and non airbag cars?

I can't remember for sure, becouse I didmy 4cyl to v8 conversion from a 88 gt to a 91 w/airbags about 4 years ago. Seems like there wasn't much different in the gauge cluster, wish I could remember for sure, but there may have been a light on the cluster for the air bag.

yes there is a difference, the 87-89 didnt have airbags and the bottom of the cluster was straight, in 90 they had to make more room in the colum and the bottom of the cluster got pushed up, as in there is a hump in the center of it. they only fit certian years, 87-89 and 90-93 so you have to look for the one thats made for the air bag stangs

LX, GT, 5.0 are all the same, just year specific

i'm not sure what you mean by "all the same" but mine is an 89 5.0, but the speedo only goes to 85 mph. Just to clarify, the 140 MPH will replace the 85 mph and be accurate?

yes, all you have to do is throw in the 140 and it'll work fine. i did it on my 88 never had any issues
and what he means is the cluster is the same they dont make them different for gt and lx, they change the tach for the 4 cyl and thats it. some came with a 85 and some came with the 140, i had the 85 one in my gt and ripped it out

Does the fact the idiot lights on the bottom right of the cluster are missing, affect the cluster at all? I put a idiot lightless 87-89 cluster in my 87 and now the water temp and fuel gauges are off.

The original cluster and a 90+ both read 1/2 at all times, the one that is in there now reads way past full all the time.
