Default Advice on replacing front coil springs

I am looking to replace my front coil springs but I don't know anyone that owns a compressor and there are no stores that rent around me. I remember someone on here saying they were able to replace their springs without a compressor. Has anyone on here done it and would like to explain the method. It would be greatly appreciated. They are stock springs by the way. Thanks all.

Do you have an autozone near you, you can rent one, otherwise Harbor Freight sells one for $30.00 you can buy online.

those ones for 30 bucks suck ***.

what springs are you going with??? if its sportline or lowering springs you can do it without a compressor. if you're doing drag launch springs like i did....you will need a clamshell compressor without a doubt! those autozone ones dont work with a damn to compress 5 inches worth of spring.....impossible!

anything else though spring compressors work from autozone and those places or you can do it without a compressor!

ford motorsports springs with no compressor... little tricky, but not bad. easier with 2 people.

also did it with my s-10 with no compressor.

This is the compressor I bought from Harbor Freight it worked great http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=43753

I used the one from Harbor freight the last time I changed the springs 10 minutes per side, I have also used the compressors from Autozone they are a PITA to get the compressor lined up right and then get it out, but still took less than 30 minutes per side.

i own that same spring compressor except the steel grade on my macpherson compressor is a lot higher than that one. my neighbor owns that harbor frieght one(we have one here in town)andthe arms bent when puttingon his drag springs.[]

anyways in order to get those they have a 2 month waiting for them, back order.
