Hi I have a 89 Mustang 5.0 and my problem is.. Its hard to start.. I just bought it not to long ago it been all gone thru etc... But inorder to start it at times you have to hold the gass down all the way and it will eventually crank up... What would this problem be? How can I fix it?!

i had that problem. did this just start happening? something that they had to fix for emissions fixed my problem. when you start it does it smell like gas or does black smoke come out the tail pipes? does it happen when its warm? does it start fine when its cold?

you got everything about that right.. yes hard to start when warmer.. and smokes black after tryn to start.. and smells like gas!! WHAT IS IT!

this is my problems that they fixed.

no reponse from ground controll circuit to egr contoll solenoid.- found out my solenoid was cracked from heat as in air injection controll solenoid.

not enough vacum reaching egr controll valve as secondary air controll valve is also leaking.

repair vacum line to fuel pressure regulator


this is the parts i needed. egr controll solenoid valve, secondary air controll A valve, secondary controll B valve, eec controll power relay.

i bet what ever your problem is it is stored in your cars computer. did the check engine light ever come on.

From the guy I bought it from he said he thought it could be the "FUEL PREASSURE REGULATOR??" does anyone think this would be a issue

very well could be. check the vacum line to it also. maybe it need to be replaced. and an ajustable fuel pressure reguator is not a bad thing to have anyway.
