water pump replace

Default water pump replace

i got a 88gt stang and im replacing the water pump, but the thing that holds the water pump, i believe its the housing or timeing cover, not sure, needs to be replaced too. i took off the pulley and the screws i believe that need to be taken off (13 screws) and it still wont come off, its a b**ch. any suggestions?

There are 2 dowels near the bottom of the timing cover. You have to pry it straight off near the bottom. There is also 4 oil pan bolts that have to come out also.

I've had to drop the oil pan a little before because sometines the rubber lip seal on the pan that is pushed into the u shapped portion on timing cover holds it up a little

I forgot about that piece. I would deffently drop the front of that pan 1/2" because Ive took my timing cover off and ripped that whole U shaped rubber lip seal off. Then you get to replace the whole oil pan gasket what a pain, but thats a different topic. Drop that pan down 1/2" in the front then the cover will come off much eaiser.
