Default driveshaft to 8.8 rear end question

alright... got done with my AOD-T5 conv. now at about 80mph, 2.5k rpm i get a strong vibration comming from under the car, and thats the only time it happens, upon further inspection I notice that their is some play near the end of the driveshaft. The part of the rear end that mounts up to the driveshaft has a little play in it, I can move it up and down a little bit. A friend said that thats problably causing my vibration, he says I need to rebuild it... what do you guys think?

thanks!

without going for a ride it 's hard to tell..could be driveshaft related could be rear tire balance and could be engine related such as harmonic balancer /spun issue

If you can move the pinion flange up and down without moving the housing you have a bearing problem and need a rebuild. There should be no play in the pinion flange.
