I am going to try to find a set of gt40 heads in the junk yard. Can anyone tell me wich ones to look for, I know there are gt40p's and some other ones How do you tell them apart. From what I have read some of them have clearance problems with the headers. Is it true that explorers have gt40 heads on them, if so what year should I be looking for. How much money is too much for a used set. I am collecting parts for next years rebuild on a budget. Just got my cobra upper and lower with throtle body, now I am trying to find some heads, last I will get advice on which cam and pistons to get, those will be new of course.

Gt40's just say GT by the spark plug. The P's say GTP. They also have 3 bars on the front of the head while the P's have 4.

I paid $100 for my GT40's. P's have plug cleanrance problems with stock and most aftermarket headers but you can purchase headers specificly for the P's.

So I am looking for just the gt40's then not the P's. I have bbk ceramic coated long tubes now and dont plan on buying new headers. What cars or trucks run just the gt40's??

I was told at one point that some 351's came with the regular GT40's.

So if I am calling J-yards are there any cars or trucks that run the gt40's on them from the factory???

95/96 explorer and mountaneer V8s. 97 1/2 changedhe gt40p heads.
