i can shift fine under normal driving conditions but as soon as i put my foot in her she doesnt like to shift from first to second just makes a grinding noise but will go right into third gear or 4th or 5th just does not seem to like second much

its probably bad syncros

 

Time for a rebuild. If you put in some Royal Purple Syncromesh it may help you out some over a few miles.

 

you'll need to look at the sincro / gear hub teeth for that gear and blocker rings

 

were do i look for sincro / gear hub teeth and how can i tell if they are bad
first time dealing with a transmision issue i thought it was the clutch but i could be wrong
