Default Safe rpm shifting?

I here alot about people shifting at about 5500 or 6000 grand.... but wouldnt that decrease the lifetime of the engine if doing that or are those 302's meant for that? cause i usaully shift between 3 grand or 3500 grand just as daily drivin and i thought by doing this then my engine would last me awhile until i can get a diffrent 302 was i wrong?!?

peak power in a 5.0 comes in around 4800 rpm and holds pretty steady until about 5300 rpm. So, shifting a stock 5.0 around 5.5k rpm will keep you in the peak power range at all times.

are you talking about daily driving shifting or track shifting. if daily driving then damn you must get crap gas mileage i shift at like 2000-2500 because i take it easy on the street but at the track i shift at 6200. i also have a 300 rwhp motor tho its not stock but when it was stock i did the same and got the same mpg. something to consider.
