Yeah just adjust it when the opposite valve is about to open then you know for a fact that the valve you're adjusting it on the base circle of the cam.
Mine are just the opposite. Seem to be quieter when cold. When it warms up it sounds a little like a sewing machine. Nothing terrible, though.
