Default is there a particular year that is best to go with?

I am looking at selling my 00gt to build up a 85-93 gt, is there a particular year I should be looking at and why?

Thanks.

They all have their advantages and disadvantages. Personally, I would go with an 85, last year of carbs and still a four eyed car!

I have an 85 and love it but if your looking at efi, search for a 89-92, = mass air and forged pistons stock, although 93 had mass air it didn't have forge pistons and the beginings of a detuned ecm set power output down to 215 vs 225 in the previous years

Well I would say forget anything carbed so start at EFI Stang's, then if you plan on modifying you don't want speed density, so you are at 1989, after this they started putting in airbags and things to weigh the cars down so in my opinion 89 is the best year.
