Gotta go with the good old 2 Chamber Flowmasters....Get an O/R H-pipe if you really want it loud!

does your car have to be e-tested? If not then off road h and flows is probably a good idea for the sound you described.
if you cant afford to do a full exhaust all at once id do a cat back first. and do a longtube headers and short midpipe (h pipe) all at once. if not you'll windup wanting headers and having to go shorties because you dont want to replace a 6 month old midpipe. at least thats what happened with me.

also on this site theres a exhaust clip sticky in the 5.0 section if you wanna listen to a few setups and see what sounds like what

Flowmasters and an offroad H-Pipe. Then when funds become available, build a nice Head, cam and Intake package and that will really add to your exhaust note, plus perfromance.

+1 on headers O/R h pipe and 2 chamber flows if you want it louder go with 1 chamber flows. i have shorty headers and 2 chamber flows and O/R Xpipe and it sounds good just becareful if you dump them at the muffler its really loud in the car. to me the cam sounds better when the run all the way back i am sure you will do a cam eventualy

Your best bet is to go on youtube and listen to all different types of exhaust systems with different setups. The only answers your gonna get on the forum is all opinionated because of what we have or what we like. Make sure you like the sound of what you get before you spend the $$$..

I have to agree with 98. Listen to all the clips and pick the one that suits you best.

I've got some headers, an off road xpipe, and flowmaster super 44's. Sounds gnarly! I recommend it!

BBK equal length shorties, catless x-pipe and Flowmasters.
