Default Broken bolts on Water Pump?

A few of the bolts on the WP broke off while I was taking them out. Are they threaded to the water pump itself or can I just slide the pump over them like studs, because it doesnt want to come off and I am concerned that I have to drill.

no they're threaded through the timing cover into the block. your best bet for removal is to get a heat source and heat the bolts as close to the threads as you can.

ok thank you. I did not believe they were threaded through the water pump, but even if I try to pry that ****er off it wont budge at that point.

I just spent 2 days fixing the same bolt. Mine snapped off flush with the block, so I had to pull the timing cover also. I tried one of those easy outs....lol.... the only thing easy about it was the purchase. Damn thing snapped off inside the bolt. Took 6 drill bits to get through that material, then I retapped a piece of all thread into the block. sucks

Take all the others out and pull the whole timing cover off. Then soak it in pb blaster and heat the block up surrounding the bolt and put on a pair of vice grips as tight as you can on what is left of the bolt and try taking it out.
