burning oil smell while driving
hi guys, after I did my clutch and rear seal, I adjusted my timing, and did the load test to see if it detonates.
I put it in 5th going about 40kph and lots of smoke came from my shifter.
what does this mean??
I replaced all gaskets except the head and oil pan gaskets.
also when I drive easy I can smell burning oil most of the time.
anyone else had this happen before?

Make sure when you reinstalled the drive shaft you didnt knock the spring out of the tail shaft seal.
See if fluid is leaking out of the back of the tranny.
Do you see oil anywhere?

it is leaking a little bit and there was no spring on the tailshaft seal of the tranny,
and there is a difference in smell between burnt tranny fluid and oil.
the only place I can see an oil leak is from the rear of the oil pan.
is it possible the burnt oil is escaping the head gasket?

There is a little difference of smell between the 2 of them.
Keep an eye on the rear main area and make sure the new seal isn't leaking.
Valve cover leak would be the next to look at.

RE: burning oil smell while driving
ya, but would a valve cover leak cause burning oil smell when accelerating?
the rear seal isnt leaking, because the oil there is on the outside of the spacer plate thingie.
none on the inside.
at least I hope it isnt leaking.
is there any way to check it without taking out the tranny and flywheel?
