Default my luck . . .

so i blew up my engine out of this 89 gt - was guna junk it but my room mate (right 4 he got arrested) had bought a completely rebuilt 5.0 engine (fresh never turned over) from some dude that workd at a car shop - now my roomate (b4 he got arrested) was goin to put this block into a 66 stang and im pretty sure he said the engine was from an 86GT - so my roomy went to jail :-) i bought the engine thinking it would go in easier in my 89 than his 66 -It came stock head 2 oil pan an had a non-egr lower intake with 4 barrel carb (rebuild was ment for a classic that doesnt need smog)- I have it in my 89 now and i will eventually need to smog it so i took all myintake / fuel injection and front accesories from my old 89 an put them on this new block - everything has gone smoothely so far - i go to start it and it runs but won't idle an it runs ruff - i realized when i set my valves that i used my old chilton manual for the firing order - which is an 89's firing order DOH! like i said it does run - kinda :-) - SSSSOOOO my question is is my problem the firing order and all i gotta do is set the valves using the right firing order? OR do i have to replace the CAM with a defferent one?? i bring up the cam because i've been told that the cams are different between 86 and 89 because 87 was the first year of fuel injection? basically i want to run this engine fuel injected and im really really really hoping i don't have to go carburated, and if worst things would i be able to just take out the CAM that only works on carb and replace it with a newer cam that is compatible with fuel injection? supposedly motor was completely stock heads to oilpan ...so if anyone could help i would sincerely appreciate it! thanks for your time.

85-95 are roller cam blocks and all carry an h.o/351 firing order = 13726548.....you will need to have firing order in the correct sequence and the cam needs to carry that firing order so that the SEFI = SEQUENTIAL ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION can fire injectors arrording to h.o sequence

I called autozone an asked for the firing order off an 86 gt 5.0 an they told me "1542378" i guess 88is when it changes to "13726548" um i really dont want to change my cam - an what you were saying is that i need a cam that has a 13726548 firing order to work with the fuel injection???? -autozone said the 86gt5.0 came with fuel injection cam so i'm hoping i could just reset my valves and spark plugs on distributer to 1542378 ..my computer tho i didnt think of that ->being the firing order is different on 86GT -u think I would need to not only reset the valves an sparkplugs but i need a computer off an 86GT aswell??? so that makes another (stupid)question : is there a difference between 86gt & 89gt's computr or r they compatible???
