I AM AT MY WITS END WITH A PROBLEM I HAVE WITH A MISS AT RUNNING TEMPERATURES,THE CAR:'93 LX HATCHBACK 5.0 THE MODS: SHORTY HDRS.,MAF-75MM(WITH STOCK 19 LB. INJ.)65MM THROT.BOD.,UNDERDRIVE PULLEYS,LARGE CAPACITY COOLING SYST.ALL BOLTONS,NO INTERNAL MODS. THE PROBLEM:AFTER DRIVING AROUND FOR A HALF HOUR,CAR STARTS TO SURGE AS I GIVE IT GAS,THE MORE GAS I GIVE THE MORE IT SURGES,SOMETIMES IT POPS THRU THE MASS AIR SYSTEM,I HAVE REPLACED THE PCV VALVE,THE EGR VALVE,NEW STOCK DISTRIBUTOR,NEW COIL,NEW WIRES &amp; PLUGS,BUT IT STILL DOES IT,AND ONLY INTERMITTENTLY,SOMETIMES IT RUNS GREAT AT ALL ENGINE TEMPS.,OTHERS IT RUNS LIKE CRAP!!! I AM GONNA PUT IN A NEW SPEED IDLE SENSOR,HOPING!!! THE CAR SHOWS NO CODE ERRORS AT ALL,ANY ONE GOT AN IDEA???? THANX.</P>


P.S. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW,ONLY HAS 50K.</P>

i have same problem with my 5.0, it runs like mad when cold, like no traction, mucho power... but when hot, mierda.... soooo i think its the fact that it gets HOT like the cooling must be bad somewhere... cuz if it gets too hot, ull (i think) getlike a desiel effect, like too much compression and heat = combustion.... but what do i know, i just got here

try replacing your oxygen sensors.

hey buzzstang,thanks for the tip,along with replacing idle speed sensor,i'll do the oxy.snsr too. are factory stock sensors gonna work with my 3" dia. stainless side exit exhausts??? are all sensors equal?</P>

hey lebrush, I just got an h-pipe, and the o2 sensors work fine with it. The only thing you might need to worry about is how long the wire is, because it might not reach to where they attatch on your exhaust. It would be really easy to measure. Oh yeah, if you got your exhaust recently, make sure they connected the o2 sensor right, if you noticed the problem after you got the exhaust. <edited><editID>tchamber</editID><editDate>37927.1960648148</editDate></edited>
