i want to rebuild my tranny so that it will run smooth but at the same time i want to beef it up a little to handle more power...wut else do i need that isnt included in the rebuild kit? steel bearing retainer? input shaft? gears? feel free to give me your opinion...

at the minimum you need to upgrade your bearing retainer to a steel one thats not in the kit. then it depends on what you want to do. tremec sells gear clusters that are upgraded like 1st through 3rd is like 300 bucks or something. rebuild kit is like 255 and the bearing retainer is 30 i think.

but again it just depends on how beefy you want to go. there was an article once in 5.0 magazine that upgraded all the internals of a T5 plus rebuild kit was like 1100 dollars. but if i had the choice id save another 700 dollars and get a TKO500 kit and be done with it.

Yeah but with the TKO you need a different bell housing and clutch. Plus, isnt the T-5 lighter?

if you buy a TKO500 kit for the mustang it comes with everything except the slip yoke.

yes t5 is 75lbs and the tko is like 115lbs without fluids

thats also one of the contributing factors of why the tko is superior is the overall mass.
