rearend width

Does anyone know the width of the stock 8.8 rearend in the 5.0 mustangs?

54 1/2'' flange to flange.

I did a search and found that where a guy was building his rear up.

does flange to flange mean that he measured from inside of brake drum to inside of brake drum basically the length of the tubes, or does it mean from axle ring to axle ring, the ring is where the studs go that hold the wheels on.
