Default clicking when i drive....

ok. i noticed this Mon after i got back from NC. when i take off hard(@ 1500rpms), something clicks in first and second gear, sometimes third. when i take off easy, it doesnt do it right away, but, when i get up in the revs in first gear. i put the car up on the lift on Tues at work, and one of the other techs and i were looking at it. first of all, the exhaust hangers that go on the k member that hold up the tranny, well, one of 'em was gone anyway, and the 2nd one was rusted off just sorta "sittin" there so we pulled it off too. now, could it be just the exhaust moving under the car and hitting the driveshaft, or do you think it could be my u-joints going bad ? its got 152k miles on it, never had the driveshaft out of it, and dont know if the previous owner(s) had ever replaced 'em......help please....thanks

U-joints are a good place to start and easy to check. Also, check the motor mounts as well. It shouldn't be hard to track down.

u-joints don't click..and like the old cars it will make a sqeaky noise when you back up....I'd also say you have 1 or 2 cracked engine mounts..

thanks for all the tips guys. got to work, put it up on the lift. checked all the mounts. all good. took care of my heat shields(cuz they had been rattling anyway and REALLY annoying me) and looked everything over. told the guys at work who were helping me what it sounded like, so, they had me get in the car, start it up, and hoisted me up. well, come to find out........i had somehow bent the driveshaft. and it just so happened, the guy ive been racing at work, had a spare, GOOD, driveshaft literally laying on his bay floor(i guess he has an aluminum one), and he was nice enuff to give it to me. we took mine out, put the new one in, and VOILA. no more clicking. im soo happy and again, thanks for all the hints/tips guys. appreciate it. now i just have to fix that damned axle. but, im gonna go ahead and order Moser's and alum driveshaft anyway. and new HEAVY-DUTY u-joints
