Default Axel removal

So, I'm getting ready to install some new gears.

My question is, how do I go about removing the axels. I'm asking because all the tech write ups that I've got involve disk breaks, and I have drums. I have never realy worked with the drums, so any help would be nice.

Thanks!

you don't know how to remove axles/drums and your attempting a gear swap??......first pull drums off, remove diff cover, remove bolt for locking pin, pull pin then push axles in and use a pen magnet to remove c-clips and then pull axles out, I assume you have all the proper tools for backlash setting and setting rotational drag on pinion bearing??

I think you are already in a bit over your head if you don't know how to get the axles out. To get it right it takes a working knowledge of the differential. It's not a matter of take them out and put them in. I know guys who have been working on cars all their lives and won't install a set of gears. To do it right it's an exacting process. It's not hard but you have to know what you are doing in order to get them right. If it's wrong you will either end up with a loud whine or a set of gears that will eat themselves up in short order. In your case pay a pro. Not trying to discorage you but sometimes you need to know your limitations.

well, maybe I worded that wrong. I know how to do it...I've just never done it with the Drum brakes. I was just making sure there was no extra step or something that I should know about before hand.

Any way, I've got all the tools to do it, and a friend of mine who has done three or four swaps is helping me out. Thanks.
