Default Will 17x9/10" rims with 255/275 fit?

Hey guys... Im looking at buyin some 04 style Cobra rims, 4 lug, for my 88 GT. They are 17", 9" in the front, 10" rear, and 255/275 respectively.

Am I going to run into rubbing issues? Remove quad shock maybe? Are 9" with 255 too wide for up front?

Thanks for your help!

I can't wait to get rid of my current Center LIne auto drag rims...!!

I would go with a 245 up front, 255 is pushing it and you will most likely rub. The rears should fit, you might have to flip the quads or remove them alltogether.

I also ran 17x9's all the way around on my lowered 91 GT, 245's up front & 275's in the rear!

When I got my Cobra R's, I got 245/45/17's all around, and they rubbed in the front. The last time I replaced the tires, I went with 255/40/17's and they don't rub at all. My speedo reads about 3 mph faster than my actual speed as a tradeoff. Trust me, you WILL rub pretty good with 255/45's.

I hope these are the same ones you are talking about! I buy from these guys all the time and they are great.

Thank you to everyone else who answered! I think Ill probably just go with 9's the whole way around with 255s. I don't feel like doing too many modifications to the body of the car. I had to roll the fenders on my lexus gs430 to fit 22s and boy oh boy was that a hassle!

Your feedback was greatly appreciated!

::::By the way, the tires are 255/40 and 275/40, not 45s, so maybe that will take care of some of the rubbing I hope?::::

Yeah, 255/40 will work great. Don't scrap the idea of going wider in the back if you want to. You don't have to necessarily go with a wider rim to make it happen. I'm not sure what is the max that can be thrown on a 9" rim (within reason), but maybe someone will chime in on that?

I just went the same size all around for rotating purposes.

I thought for the 10" rim out back that somewhat extensive work had to be done. If not, Ill probably do the 10". I see what you mean about getting tires to be able to rotate, since in reality there is no NEED for me to have that wide of a tire in the rear. But it looks oh so good!

By the way, what part of FL are you from?
