intake problems...
i just installed a trick flow intake and have some trouble with it now. I do have a vacuum leak that was from the lower intake. I was told not to use the gaskets that go to the lower intake (the little S ones) and to just use a beed of silicone. when I took off the upper i noticed that there was oil on the back part of the intake. I think that was because I didn't use the gaskets. I also think that was my problem (vacuum leak).
(USE THE ULTRA GRAY SILICONE) AND WHEN YOU PUT IT ON MAKE SHURE YOU CLEAN OFF ALL THE OIL OFF BEFOR PUTTING ON THE SILI.OR IT WONT STAY. ALSO PUT A BALL OF SILI ON THE FOUR CORNERS WHEAR THE HEAD GASKET MEETS. ( NOT TO MUCH IT WILL END UP DOWN IN YOUR MOTOR) HOPE THE INFO HELPS
Main thing with using RTV is to make sure the surfaces are clean and dry, and to let it bead (let it sit and get a semi hardened skin on the outside) before you put the parts together.

I did that when we put it on but I think that we didn't put enough it on. I think that another reason was because my bubby wanted the car out of his drive way and was doing it in a hurry. One other question. Would you use any type of gasket material (the small S ones that go between the heads)? I went to a mustang shop here in town and they told me that they don't use the gaskets they just use silicon.

It doesn't matter which one you use. You can use the gaskets and silicone if you like doing it by the book (like myself), but you also have to use silicone, or you can do it with the silicone you just have to make sure it is clean and make sure you use enough of the right kind.
