Question wierd noise...cant pin point it

hey guys i have a 5.0 and i just installed new heads. i have an odd noise. sounds like rocker clacking but i have adjusted them many times with the same result. The symstoms dont start unless the car is at operating temp and it gets louder at higher rpm. my father suggested it could be a bad lifter. any ideas?

...Sounds like a lifter to me, one of mine has a very very minor tick...freaked me out at first as well...if its to bad though you might wanna replace them.

they are stud mount. my dad is kind of an old school guy so he adjusted them while the motor was running with the valve covers off. we did it three times. the same valve tiks. he says it could be a weak spring. are there any lifters i could get that are designed for heavy valve springs.

hmmmmmm, not the proper way on a hydraulic cam......... best way is roll motor over that when exhaust valve starts to open , intake can be adjusted = tighten until slight drag on push rod is felt then from there 1/2 turn and lock it down, exhaust setting roll motor over un til intake has opened and is about 1/2 to 2/3 closed , exhaust valve can now be adjusted = tighten until slight drag is felt on push rod, then 1/2 turn from there and lock it down..

ok thanks alot!! ill try that before i order any new parts. i dont want to sound dumb but wat do you mean by slight drag on the push rod. do you mean, spin the push rod untill its a little bit harder to spin then do the half turn from there? and when the exhaust valve is starting to open the intake valve should be on the base of the cam, correct?
