5.0 spring Swap.???
Hello everyone, I have a friend that has a 1979 coupe with 22 thousand miles. The car had a V6 in it and it had blown up 9 years back. My question is would the front springs on this car be some what of a happy medium between the stock springs on a 1992 5.0 mustang and the four cylinder version.? Im looking to get a little better of a stance out of the car and get a little more straight line traction. Please someone let me know if this poor man mod/swap would do any justice for what i want it to do. thanx

only 22 thousand and it blew up? Damn... I wouldn't use the stock springs in the 79 I know that. The ones in my 83 sucked. I got ahold of some 03 cobra fronts and 04 mach 1 rears for free from a friend and they were alot better. I would use the stock 92's and trim off a little to give it a little lower stance. Some will say go with the 4 cyl springs, its common, and some will say not to cut springs but if your not greedy then there isn't any problems. Start with a 1/2 a coil and see how it looks.

doing just springs is not going to give you any straight line traction. traction off the line is all about weight transfer. you need to get some 90/10 shocks for the front if you really need the traction.and some stiff rear shocksand springs. the only thing you might get from shorter springs is lower center of gravity and better handling in the turns.
