missing oil pan bolt

Default missing oil pan bolt

broke a bolt on in the pan rail YAY
wont come out with easy out tool
should i tap a new hole or just leave it on and hope it doesnt leak
front looking at it its pretty sealed up i put some extra silicon were the bolt is missing
just want some second opinions
its not main or rear bolts one of the corner bolts

whats ironic is its 9ftlbs for bolts and i was using grade 8 bolts and 2 grade 5 bolts, but the grade 8 broke, 1/1000 and i had to be the one =P i feel so special

gonna have to take all the bolts off on that side. remove the rail and hope you can get a grip on it with some vise grips

oh im sorry i mean its stuck in the block and i dont think that comes off if i remeber correctly. its lodged inside the block nothing sticking out =( that easy out wasnt too good i ws thinking of aldren drill out tools maybe i can pick up from somwere
so it will most likely leak ya?

well it was me id just leave it and fix it if it ever does leak.my car has a bolt broke off in it from a previous owner and its never leaked on me.just got some silicon built up around it.

ya thats exaclty what i did, like i took a flash light and did a little sweep to see if there was any holes and it was all flush but when the bolt brok off i put silicon on both sides of the gasket were the bolt is missing. then i took extra silicoon and put it in the area were the bolt is missing, and then when the rest of the pan was on and bolted down i put some along the sides to make sure they wasnt any leaks, but i was haveing second thoughts about it this morning. but in my opinon they way the silicon looks around it doesnt look like its gonna leak, but just wanted a third party opinion

Here's what I'd try to do.
CAREFULLY center punch the broken bolt. Then get a left handed drill bit (1/8-3/32 inch) and a drill in reverse and carefully start drilling.
The broken bolt will come right out.
