The scary part is when I bought this car a few years ago the kid had the timing set at 16 base with the spout in, and it didn't ping.

of course it didnt ping, 16* with the spout in is the same as setting your base timing to 2*-4*. your mixing up your terms, base timing is your timing with the spout out. with the spout in, the computer will add about 12-14**. you need to take the spout out, set the timing to 8* and then get your a$$ to the dyno. your just guessing, and thats no way to tune a boosted motor. your lucky your only running 6psi because your mode of tuning would destroy your motor if you were running more boost.

you dont even understand how an fmu works, it doesnt spike fuel pressure when the vacuum drops, it adds fuel pressure as you build boost. the faster it builds boost the faster the fuel pressure goes up but its not an instantaneous spike when you floor it

What blower are you running and what mass air? You're starving it for fuel. A 110 is no where near enough to run those injectors. And i def wouldn't be running that thing ballz out w/o a tune. You're asking for trouble.

you would be better off setting the time with the spout out and leaving it out if you are going to drive it.

When I bought the car and it had 16* in it that was checking it with the pill pulled (Didn't think anyone would ever try to check with the pill in since you would never get a steady reading).

I was shocked seeing as 11 or 12* was the most I had run in my other SC cars with much better fuel systems, and I turned it down very quickly. And no I don't know how an fmu works because I ran the propper size injectors in my other cars and never had the need for one.

Hey bud you need a custom tune bad!!! I agree with the folks above, you are lucky to only be running 6lbs or that bad boy would have been done. I have a 1990 which at one point had the identical set you have. I had 24's & the FMU. Then I upgraded to 42's & removed the FMU. As my tuner (Tony Gonyon from HP) put it, an FMU is 80's style technology. He hates to tune cars with that on, he always recommends 42lb injectors & off course a custom tune.

The tune will fix all problem & make sure you have enough fuel, timming, & air.

PS My car also has two fuel pumps, you can run one, but as stated it has to be more than the stock 110.

Good luck!!!
