347 vs 408 or 427
i plan on building a either a 408 stroker or a 427 but i heard that when u do that you have to bore the block out 60 doesn't that weaken the block severely? but i saw that chp has a kit that says you can use either 30 or 60 bore does neone else know about this?
and now to the topic my friends is building a 347stroker for his 88gt and i am building at least a 408stroker for my 95GT who do all think is going to be seeing whose tail lights?

.060 is the most you can go and still be safe. the CHP kit will have different displacements based on .030 or .060 over. you can assume about 4 cubes more for the .060 version.
and about the "whos gonna win", it depends on thje other mods you do. if u build the 2 engines the same and the cars are very similar with other perf mods, ya ur gonna win. but if he puts more money into h/i/c and a tune he could beat you. also depends on who gets more traction off the line, tranny mods, etc. too many variables to tell

My .02 If you go bigger than 347 you might want to consider an aftermarket block. 5.0 blocks are not known to be the strongest when bored out that big, 450-500 hp seems to be the limit.
