MAFS swap with factory harness.
I see alot of people are doing this so I bought a a3m computer (same a a9l) I have a factory 1993 wiring harness (I belive the computer is 1993 also) and I'm looking to put it in a 1987 GT, what do I do? Is it just plug and play or do I still need to move the thermactor pump pins? Help!!!!

RE: MAFS swap with factory harness.
when you mean harness do you mean just the MAF wires or the entire engine harness?
for me i moved pins around and extended my MAF wires [4of them] then ran a few other wires from teh ECU to fuel pump relay and the cruise control harness

RE: MAFS swap with factory harness.
Yeah I bought a complete harness for mine, and found out that it was completely different, so I went and got the $40 kit and sold the harness. I came out ahead on the whole deal since I paid $225 for the ECU, MAF, and harness, then sold the harness for $177. Now I just need to find some stock MAF intake tubes...anyone?

RE: MAFS swap with factory harness.
hmmmm, so I should keep my SD harness and use the 1993 A3M ECM, here in lies the issue. My SD harness is crap. So if any of you know where I could get a different SD harness I'll buy it. My harness I have that I just bought is for a 1993, so this one won't work?
BTW my car is an 1987 gt vert

RE: MAFS swap with factory harness.
see newer harness will work but you need everything.
you will have to remember its best to use a 89 ecu for a SD convert. now if you do a full harness swap then go ahead and use a newer one
