if the small surges are at idle, you might consider cleaning or replacing the idle air control unit(IAC). Tied together with the dying at idle, that would be the best bet.

Glad to see my original idea was the culprit. Skipped alot of lengthy diag by going straight to the most probable source.

yea ill try givin that a shot tonight, cleanin it at least. its gotten progressively worse as ive been driving it lately, almost everytime im pushin in the clutch coming into a corner or stop to downshift it will drop rpm's super low and jump back up, then come back down and die. it'd be nice if it was as simple as cleanin the IAC, simple stuff makes life so much easier haha

since you had the distributor out, are you sure that you restabbed it and timed it correctly? also, performing a base idle reset/relearn and KAM reset would likely benefit you.

yup, i marked anything that moved before i pulled it and lined everything back up. and double checked the base timing with a light.

how would i go about doing the KAM reset and base idle relearn?
