heating, A/C, exhaust
Got some questions...
So I bought my 1992 5.0 LX a couple of months ago right before college. There are no A/C components except for the compressor, and the heater core has been bypassed. I do not care about the A/C so I am going to take out the compressor and get a shorter belt. But I need heat so i hooked back up the hoses to the core. Once the car got to running temperature antifreeze went everywhere. I talked to my friend who owns a GT and he says it is a leak in the core. I have been reading some tech articles and know how to replace it but should i get OEM or aftermarket aluminum core?
Also, I really want Longtubes. Right now there are chrome hooker short headers, but the chrome has rusted away and now they look awful. I just bought a new BBK off/road H pipe to give the car some noise and there is an exhaust leak at the connection to the header. I bought new bolts since the old ones stripped and rusted. I tightened, double bolted, and used lock washers and air is still getting through. I am beginning to think it is the headers. Every time I tighten the bolts, and then run the car there are no leaks but after about half an hour of driving I begin to hear air slipping through again. Any suggestions?
Also, I am kind of low on money. After all of these issues are fixed, what would you recommend as my next project or thing to add?
