vapor canister overflow
i bought an '83 mustang about a week ago and when i took it to get smogged it failed the HC part. so when i got home i looked to see if there were any lines that were bad/missing. i found out that the hose that goes from the catalytic converter to the air check valve was missing and the hose that goes from the gas tank to the charcoal canister had fell off its clip and melted on the exhaust pipe. also the hose that goes into the air pump was disconnected.
so i went out and bought new hose for the catalytic converter and the relay line from the gas tank to the charcoal canister and reconnected the hose that goes into the air pump. when i started the car there were visible gas vapors coming out from under the car and it had a choppy idle. so, thinking that it needed to get cleared out, i took the car around the block and when i got home there were still visible gas vapors and gas was overflowing out of the charcoal canister.
do you guys have any ideas what could be wrong and how to fix it?
