Default Water pump Screw up????

Got a new Ford water pump and Fel-Pro gasket pulled everything down, put the gasket on the timing cover, bolted up the new water pump and put everything back together. I was cleaning up and noticed a gasket in the bottom of the water pump box. What is this one for? Is this just a cheap one?

you have a backing plate as well. Your supposed to seal the backing plate gasket and install the 2 backside bolts the seal and bolt to timing cover. another common prob is the timing cover may leak afterwards from losing it up. you should replace that gasket as well I learned the hard way

So you buy a brand new water pump then you have to take it apart to install a gasket that should be put there when it is put together at the factory?? Yeah that makes sense. Oh well I guess I'm tearing it back down.
Thanks for the help.
