overhaul kits cost around 200.00 = bearings and blocker rings and aall the little extra things needed, it may need bearings, 1st is most noticable as it'll spin faster , hence amplifying the noise

A T5 is absurdly simple to rebuild in the world of tranny overhauls. You will need a few special tools like bearing splitters, a slide hammer, seal drivers and a press. If you have never taken a tranny apart - do yourself a favor and pay someone to do it. If it is most noticeable in first, I'd say input bearing, countershaft bearing or pocket bearing. Pocket/Countershaft would go away almost 100% in 4th.

Just pray your 1-2 synchro hub isn't screwed up. You will have to replace the outputshaft IIRC and that will not make a rebuild a cost effective repair.

Cool i appreciate all the help - an sounds like it must be the pocket bearing or countershaft bearing being that my noise is gone 100% in fourth..i mean i can barel hear it once out of first..but i feel like a rubbing in the tranny when my wheels move..even in nuetral.....i seen a fully rebuilt T5 on craigslist recently for like 950 bucks is that an okay deal? i mean the guy says he put in little under 750 worth of parts and the hours he put in makes him not want to sell under 950...u think that would be more reasonable then a rebuild kit for 200 bux + tools + time/headache?

What kind of fan do you have? When I was a car newbie I thought my tranny was whining.... what was it? The flex a lite aftermarket fan. It made so much noise from air turbulence I thought the tranny gears where whining.

After a set of underdrive pulleys my car was quiet as a church mouse.
