vacum pump

how do i use this to check for a vacum leak on a 85 5.0 carb motor it keeps stalling at idle i think i have a vacum leak

the car stalls if i let go of the gas any other way?

a vac pump wont help you find a leak, neither will a vac gauge. although, a vac gauge will hint to you that you might have one, just not tell you where it is.
