Early in the mornings, when I leave for work towards 4am, second stop sign out ill realize im idling at about 3000rpm, it wont stay like that for long i think.. i say i think because by the time I get to work 40 miles down the road, the problem has been corrected, or warmed up or whatnot... is that just how it is, or something failing perhaps ?

You could check for vacuum leaks from vacuum hoses or gaskets. There should be a slightly high idle at startup but 3000 rpm sounds alittle too high...

start up idle for me is around 1500. I did bounce to 1700 but then I cleaned the throttle body and it went down. If dirt builds up on the TB it can keep the plate open a little which will cause it to idle high. Other culprits are vacuum leaks, but you should be able to hear that.
